I’m a new graduate, finishing Bachelor of Podiatry at QUT in 2018 and this year have been privileged to start my professional career at First in Feet Podiatry.
Previous to podiatry I studied for a year at Sheridan College Wyoming USA where I was a student athlete on scholarship for basketball. Basketball was always a passion of mine growing up, and I was lucky enough to be involved in teams at a junior, senior and state level in Queensland.
I was drawn towards podiatry as my family and I have always struggled with our feet and I was curious in how podiatrists can solve such problems – whether through orthoses, soft tissue therapies or other means. As I commenced studying podiatry I realized this career was able to offer me so much more; not only problem solving skills but a sense of fulfilment in helping and caring for patients.
This year I am looking forward to expanding and building upon my knowledge of biomechanics and sports injuries and becoming proficient in orthoses design and soft tissue therapies. In addition to this, I am motivated in improving my clinical skills including general foot and callous care and diabetes assessment. I’m excited and am grateful for this new position and working with a diverse caseload of patients.
